Sweet Madeleine

The coffee shop owner said, "Would you like to try some Madeleines?" Without much thought I said, "Sure." Thinking that I have nothing to lose if I said yes. But maybe a little bit to gain in terms of calories. But guess what? I didn't like them, unlike the Pet Shop Boys in their song, Memory of the Future.   

"Over and over again
I keep tasting that sweet Madeleine
Looking back at my life now 
And then asking, if not later then when"
